Editing Weary

I know what you'd say if I said I was mad<br />
You'd wonder why I was angry with you<br />
You'd want to know why and not leave me alone<br />
And then I would have to tell you the truth

I know that you'd argue me out of that place<br />
And I'd prob'ly feel guilty about what I said<br />
But what I'd not say is that this isn't anger<br />
But hatred I feel toward you instead

You know that I love your dreamy blue eyes<br />
The smile that lights up your face like the sun<br />
And were I to shatter that smile with the truth<br />
I could never forgive myself for what I'd done

But you won't fully grasp all the pain that I've felt<br />
The blows to my heart I've received at your hand<br />
How broken and empty you've left me at times<br />
Is something you won't ever quite understand

Never again can you know how I feel<br />
The nights when I poured out my soul are no more<br />
I'm immune to the darts you unwittingly shoot<br />
I've built up a wall and I'm numb to the core

You never did mean to hurt me like this<br />
And I won't hurt you, though I know that I could<br />
Vengeance upon you is not what I seek<br />
I'm weary is all, and I want out for good

So I'm going to go somewhere far, far away<br />
Where nobody knows you and no one knows me<br />
I'll start a new life and be careful this time<br />
So the mess that was you is not a thing I repeat

I know that you'll miss me, and I'll miss you too<br />
And it's not as if this way my scars will all heal<br />
But I'll bury them deep down and try to forget<br />
And perhaps if I'm lucky I'll just cease to feel
