Verse 1[edit]

As a child I would sit, I would listen
As your voices crowded my mind
O gods, I would run in the forest
But ever your faces would I find

In the stillness, in the quiet, I can touch you
O gods, you are ever with me
In the sky, in the fire, I see you
Your eyes stare out from the sea

Verse 2[edit]

If I go down to the depths, into Hades
Even there you walk by my side
And I try to escape from you, gods
Your presence can I never abide

If I lie with my love in the darkness
If I take her into my bed
O gods, as I reach out to embrace her
It is you that I see in her stead

Verse 3[edit]

You are monstrous, O gods, and I fear you
Like a spider crawling under my skin
For I know no offering, no oblation
Could cover up the multitude of my sin

And my nakedness is ever before you
As I shiver, and I cower in the night
You see all my inmost desires
They are loathsome, they are foul in your sight

Verse 4[edit]

So I hide, for I cannot abide it
That you should see all of my shame
But your Spirit shall never forsake me
And I hear as you call out my name
